The Bribri people are Costa Rica’s largest indigenous group. They reside in the Limón province, near Panama’s border, prioritizing independence and self-sufficiency by preserving their culture from mainstream influences. Translated as “brave” in Spanish, the Bribri embody resilience as they hold onto their beliefs and traditions despite the passage of time.

Bri Bri healing experience & chocolate workshop

Upon arrival, guests are warmly greeted by a local family who showcase tools crafted from jungle materials. Following a brief hike, visitors explore medicinal plants and witness a traditional chocolate-making demonstration. Sample naturally flavored chocolates and medicinal extracts before trying traditional bow and arrow target practice.

Karla 

Karla was born and raised in Costa Rica’s tropical Caribbean Coast. She is the youngest of seven and comes from a long line of passionate wildlife enthusiasts. This led Karla to become a researcher working in various conservation areas throughout Costa Rica such as collecting data on plants, wildlife and insects. She’s passionate for both naturalist and cultural journeys, making her one of the best guides in the country to showcase the true Afro-Caribbean experience. Karla has 23 years of leading trips throughout the region and is the true personification of Costa Rica’s “Pura Vida” spirit!

Will the itinerary change?

We reserve the right to omit any part of this itinerary, to change the order of the places visited, or to alter reservations without prior notice due to weather conditions or road closures, safety concerns, national park policies, or other outside forces that may necessitate revisions to the itinerary. These decisions are based on the traveler’s welfare or are made in the interest of conservation. Please travel with an open mind and a willingness to embrace the spontaneity of your adventure.

Who is responsible for flights?

Flights are booked independently, It is the traveler’s responsibility to book their flights.

What responsibilities do travelers have regarding foreign entry requirements and travel documents?

The travelers are responsible for ensuring that they meet foreign entry requirements and that their travel documents, such as passports and any required visas or vaccinations, are in order and any other foreign entry requirements are met. No refunds are given if the client is denied entry into the country.

What should I know about vaccinations before traveling?

Vaccinations, please check with your doctor and visit the CDC website. 

Which payment methods are accepted?

Payments can be made via credit card, wire transfer, or electronic check.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellation must be in writing.

If a passenger cancels more than 90 days from departure they will be assessed a $500 non-refundable deposit, plus any penalties imposed on Latin Excursions by suppliers.

Between 89-31 days of departure:

35% of total price of the trip refunded

Less than 30 days from departure: no refunds

During trip: no refunds
